Born Free's CEO, Will Travers, took part in the Keynote Sir Peter Scott debate at this year's Wildscreen Festival. The motion was "People must be kept away from endangered animals". Arguing for the motion were Will and Tiger Conservationist Valmik Thapar, against were Prof. Bill Adams of Cambridge University and Mary Mavanza of the Jane Goodall Institute. The debate was chaired by Cristián Samper, Director of the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History.
At the beginning of the evening, as the attendees arrived they were asked to vote on how they felt about the issue. This came out at 107 in favour (Valmik and Will) 147 against, 78 undecided and 38 non voters. After the debate, the vote had changed to 205 in favour, 132 against and 33 undecided.
